Position Description:

The Theoretical High-Energy Physics Group at the Institute for Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz plans to make an appointment at the PhD level. The appointment is for three years starting from October2017.

The group consists of Profs. Johannes Henn, Gabriele Honecker, Tobias Hurth, Joachim Kopp, Matthias Neubert, Martin Reuter, Pedro Schwaller, William Shepherd, Hubert Spiesberger, Stefan Weinzierl, and a significant number of postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master students. The interests of the group cover a wide range of topics in particle physics, astrophysics, quantum field theory and string theory.

The research project, hosted by Prof. J. Henn, is at the intersection of applications to collider phenomenology, and the development of new methods for scattering amplitudes and Feynman integrals. This research is funded by the European Union through the ERC Consolidator Grant project “Novel structures in scattering amplitudes” (2017-2022). For more details, see
Our research activities are integrated with the Excellence Cluster "Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter" (PRISMA), Regular scientific workshops, programs and schools with leading international researchers at the Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics (MITP) provide a stimulating scientific environment and opportunities for international collaboration. In addition, PhD students can also profit from exchange agreements with ICTP/SAIFR São Paulo (Brazil) and Fermilab (USA).
