Director of the Center for Child and Family Policy
The Sanford School of Public Policy
The Sanford School of Public Policy invites applications for the position of Director of the Center for Child and Family Policy (CCFP). The Director’s faculty appointment will be in the Sanford School. We seek a leader in child and family policy scholarship and public engagement. Mid-career scholars at the current rank of associate professor as well as senior scholars and public officials are encouraged to apply. Except in unusual cases, the successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as psychology, economics, public policy, sociology, or public health, with active externally funded projects. A record of leadership in research and public engagement is essential.
CCFP is one of the nation’s leading centers devoted to research, teaching, and public engagement to address problems facing children and families in contemporary society. The Center’s 45 affiliated faculty members and 15 Research Scientists come from diverse disciplines with primary appointments across the entire Duke campus. Foci evolve over time and currently include (but are not restricted to) early childhood adversity, education policy, and adolescent problem behavior. Information about the Center for Child and Family Policy can be found at www.childandfamilypolicy.duke.edu.
The Director will oversee the Center’s grants portfolio which currently totals $8 million per year, and will guide the Center’s faculty and permanent staff in the next phase of growth and impact. The Director will report to the Dean of the Sanford School.
The Director will also contribute to the teaching and service missions of the Sanford School. The Sanford School includes a full-time faculty of 70 and offers an undergraduate major, two masters programs, and a Ph.D. program.
