|The School of International Letters & Cultures at Arizona State University invites applications for one Instructor position in Arabic. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower and/or upper division courses in Arabic in on-ground, hybrid, and/or online settings. Instructors are required to prepare syllabi, lectures and class materials, exams, order textbooks, and grade assignments and exams. We are developing a track for heritage learners, and are especially interested in an instructor with expertise in that area. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment made on an academic year basis (Aug 16 - May 15). Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the unit, availability of resources, and sufficient enrollment in assigned courses. Anticipated start date is August 2017.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Arabic or related field and native/near-native proficiency in Arabic; evidence of effective Arabic teaching at the post-secondary level.
1) ABD or PhD in Arabic language, literature, linguistics, or cultural studies by time of appointment.
2) Demonstrated background in teaching Arabic for heritage learners.
3) Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching across the undergraduate curriculum.
4) Demonstrated proficiency in implementing appropriate technologies in language
instruction and/or on-line language teaching experience.
