Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions to work with Professor Simon Lilly on collaborative projects in the general areas of galaxy evolution and astrophysical cosmology. There are particular opportunities to work on his 110h JWST IDS GTO program, which is focused on using NIRCAM slitless spectroscopy to study re-ionization at 5 < z < 7 and galaxy evolution with an H-alpha selected galaxy sample at 3 < z < 5. There are also opportunities for participation in the program of the NIRCAM GTO team. Other areas of interest include exploitation of the MUSE integral field spectrograph on the VLT and the development and execution of deep surveys with the future MOONS infrared fibre-spectrograph on the VLT. There is also interest in continued development of novel methods of analysis of the evolving galaxy population as well as the detection of magnetic fields at high redshift.

Switzerland is a full member of ESO and ESA. Simon Lilly is a member of the MUSE and MOONS Instrument Consortia and the NIRCAM Science Team. The group has access to high performance supercomputing clusters at ETH and at the Swiss National Supercomputing Center.

The positions are initially for two years with yearly renewals possible thereafter, up to a maximum of five years. The initial salary is between 86,300 and 95,000 CHF (approximately = USD), depending on experience. The starting date is flexible but should preferably not be after October 2018.
