The astro-particle physics division at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg invites applications for a post-doctoral position in its experimental astro-particle physics projects. MPIK has a strong or leading involvement in the neutrino experiments CONUS, Gerda, LEGEND-200 and STEREO and in direct dark matter search with XENON and DARWIN. In addition there are R&D activities, e.g. the development of very low threshold Germanium detectors or ultra-low background physics with various technologies to detect trace impurities with unrivaled sensitivity. Detailed information about the Particle and Astroparticle Physics Division at MPIK can be found under

Applicants should express their main research direction and the project(s) where they would be most interested to participate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the full spectrum of activities of suitable projects from hardware to R&D, simulations and data analysis. He/She is particularly also encouraged to contribute also to the development of new and more sensitive detection techniques.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental particle or nuclear physics. The position is initially for three years with the option of an extension depending on mutual interest. Applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests and a publication list. Two or three letters of reference should also be provided. Applications should arrive by November 15, 2019.
