Position Description

The Department of Statistical Science at Duke University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to work in statistics and data science education under the direction of Professor of the Practice Mine Çetinkaya-Rundel and Associate Professor of the Practice Colin Rundel with a start date of July 1, 2024 (negotiable). The successful applicant will have strong skills in teaching statistics and data science as well as strong interests in developing pedagogy for teaching computational foundations and methods in statistics and data science. Experience teaching with R is strongly preferred and candidates with multi-lingual teaching experience (R and Python) are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should be prepared to offer courses in introductory data science at the undergraduate level and there may be opportunities to teach computational methods for statistics at the undergraduate and graduate (MS) levels as well.

Responsibilities include teaching two courses per year, contributing to development of open educational resources, and research in statistics and data science pedagogy. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a closely related field prior to the date of appointment.
