The Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development invites applications for a full-time faculty member with expertise in teacher education research at the Full Professor (with tenure) level. At BU Wheelock, we believe strongly that the cultural and social diversity of faculty, staff, and students is important to maintaining superior research and academic programs and creating a strong community. As such, we are seeking a faculty member who shares our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; the advancement of research to inform best practices; and the transformation of systems that impact learning and human development for a thriving, sustainable, and just future.

We seek a faculty member who is eager to lead system change efforts by developing a team of faculty colleagues and cultivating a research agenda focused on equity and innovation in teacher preparation and teacher support. Candidates must have a history of successfully obtaining external funding, conducting rigorous research, and producing excellent scholarship that is influential both within the academic literature and in the national and international discussions on teacher education. We are open to a broad range of research expertise within teacher education. However, the successful candidate’s research will advance knowledge on the relationship of teaching and learning across multiple domains. Additionally, the successful candidate will encourage the broad use of research methodologies to answer enduring questions about teaching and learning.

The position is scheduled to begin Fall 2021 but is negotiable depending on availability.

Required Qualifications:  

  • Doctorate in education or a related field.   
  • A well-established record of published research and grant funding.  

     Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Record of cross-disciplinary research and training (e.g., STEM, SPED, Educational Psychology).  
  • History of working with school communities, policy makers, and education researchers on innovations in teacher education.  
  • Active engagement in public discourse regarding teacher education research.
