Merrimack College invites applications for a one-year non-tenure track position of Lecturer of Political Science with the possibility of renewal beginning Fall 2017. The position includes teaching three courses per semester, program assessment, development of a new course, and a regular presence on the Abbott Lawrence Academy campus. The successful applicant will teach two sections of the introductory course, Politics of the United States, each semester. The two sections will be offered for selected students from the Lawrence Abbott Academy (http://www.lawrence.k12.ma.us/abbott), a public school with an entrance exam in Lawrence, Massachusetts that provides a high quality, rigorous, college preparatory education. A third section will be offered to traditional Merrimack College undergraduates. All sections will be taught on the Merrimack College campus, but the successful candidate will hold office hours at the Abbott Academy. In addition, the successful candidate will be develop and teach a new course, Massachusetts State and Local Politics, to be offered in the Spring of 2018. Prior teaching experience and/or a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is required. Ph.D. in Political Science preferred, Masters required, by the time of appointment.

Merrimack College is a selective four-year Catholic college in the Augustinian tradition, offering programs in the liberal arts, business, sciences, and engineering for its 4000+ undergraduate and graduate students. The college is located in the Merrimack Valley, approximately 25 miles north of Boston.
