The Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) and the Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology & Immunogen Design (CHAVI-ID), that provides national and international leadership in the fight against major infectious diseases, and is currently recruiting for a Faculty position in genomics and computational biology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental institute dedicated to the study of basic and translational science required to understand host-pathogen interactions that can be translated to vaccines or other countermeasures against human diseases. DHVI comprises a team of highly interactive investigators that have expertise in mucosal and systemic virology, molecular biology, microbiology and animal models.  

The position will lead research in the areas of genetics and genomics of the immune system and the analysis of large immune receptor and other databases. 

We are seeking applicants with a broad range of research experience relevant to next generation sequencing and analysis, RNASeq, single-cell genomics (transcriptomics and epigenomics) and large data set analysis. 

Successful applicants will have a history of relevant research, research program development, and research productivity with a publication and training history that will lead to sustainable external research funding. Opportunities for research collaboration include working closely with faculty members in the DHVI, other Duke entities, and external scientific collaborators. New faculty members will be supported with competitive start-up funding packages, research laboratory space, access to research animal facilities, and state-of-the-art research facilities.  

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a MD degree with research training or a doctoral level degree (PhD or ScD) in molecular biology, computational biology, immunology, virology, or related scientific field with a strong record of research including a focus on design, analysis and methodological development studies.
