The University of Redlands ( Spatial Studies Program seeks applicants for either a Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer position based upon qualifications of the applicant. The visiting professor will teach six courses/year whereas the visiting lecturer will be responsible for eight courses/year within our undergraduate Spatial Studies Minor Program. Teaching responsibilities extend over a 9-month period each year and the position is renewable up to three years.

The successful candidate will primarily teach mid and upper-level GIS and spatial thinking courses targeted towards undergraduate students from a wide range of disciplines, including business, environmental studies, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Additional undergraduate courses may include an occasional introductory level course. Opportunities will exist to collaborate with other departments and faculty across campus. However, the primary responsibilities are teaching, advising as appropriate, and contributing to curriculum design relating to further development of the undergraduate program in GIS and spatial studies. A strong commitment to undergraduate education, including mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and working closely with student researchers, is essential.

The University of Redlands is a private, comprehensive liberal arts institution located 60 miles east of Los Angeles in a town of 70,000 which also happens to be the home of Esri. The campus is surrounded by orange groves and sits at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains, one hour from the coast, and 40 miles west of Palm Springs.
