Biomedical elastomers
We study biodegradable vascular grafts that will transform into autologous vascular conduits. A key component of this effort is the biodegradable elastomer. Our recent approach focuses on chelation elastomer (Chelation Crosslinking of Biodegradable Elastomers, Advanced Materials, September 2020: https://doi.org/10.1002/adma.202003761). We are looking for a postdoctoral associate to further develop this design principle and make new elastomers.
Responsibilities
• Initiates and directs the design, synthesis, and characterization of the elastomer.
• Facilitates the fabrication and characterization of the vascular grafts made from the elastomer
Requirements
• Requires a PhD in biomedical engineering, chemistry or related discipline.
• The candidate is expected to closely interact with members of a multidisciplinary team to devise novel approaches to the vascular graft.
• Must be an energetic, original thinker with a positive attitude. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are expected, so is the desire and ability to perform effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Expert knowledge of scientific principles and basic concepts. Demonstrated success in scientific communication as exemplified by peer reviewed publications.
