As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine and booster or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.

New hires are required to provide documentation showing full vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn.

Postdoctoral Research Scholars in Brain Dynamics

The Aksay Laboratory of Cornell University at the Weill Medical Center in New York City is seeking two postdoctoral research scholars to advance our understanding of dynamics in neural systems. Topics under investigation include circuit mechanisms of memory storage, synaptic-level learning rules governing network plasticity, and the role of excitatory/inhibitory imbalance in seizure initiation. Our experimental approaches include electrophysiology, multi-photon imaging and perturbation, and connectomics; our analytic approaches borrow from causal network inferencing, machine learning, and control theory. The laboratory is well funded and support for these positions is generously provided by grants from the Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain, National Eye Institute, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and the BRAIN Initiative.

Ideal candidates are expected to have an excellent publication record stemming from doctoral work in physics, engineering, computer science, computational/systems neuroscience, or applied mathematics. It is beneficial, but not required, that candidates have expertise in quantitative optical methods, optical engineering, laser systems, or electrophysiology. Selected scholars are expected to be creative, collaborative, and ambitious; they are also encouraged to spend ~25% of their time establishing novel research directions that benefit from existing projects and tools in the lab. Senior applicants may be considered for Research Associate or Research Faculty positions.

Candidates should send applications or queries directly to Emre Aksay at ( Applications should include a brief statement of interest, a curriculum vitae, and a list of three references. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
