As part of its Next Generation Program ( and pending budgetary approval, Georgia State University anticipates hiring for multiple tenure-track positions. These positions are part of GSU’s strategic initiative to lead in the areas of cybersecurity, cybercrime and future crime and technology policy. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Computer Information Systems (Robinson College of Business), Computer Science, Psychology (both in College of Arts and Sciences) and Criminal Justice and Criminology (Andrew Young School of Policy Studies). The hiring plan is to recruit multiple faculty who will add depth and breadth in the area of cybersecurity. We strongly encourage applications from women and minority candidates.

This advertisement is for a tenure-track or tenured position in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department in the Robinson College of Business ( The positions are open to candidates at any rank, although preference will be given to senior assistant professors or associate professors with an established publication record. The CIS Department is consistently ranked as a top department both in terms of its programs and research. For example, the department’s undergraduate program was recently ranked # 9 and its graduate program was ranked # 13 in the nation by US News & World Report. Additionally, the department consistently ranks among the top 5 in the world in terms of research productivity based on publications in MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research.

Applicants must have technical and methodological expertise related to cybersecurity, and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. They must have an established record of scholarship that has resulted in, and will continue to result in, publications in premier scholarly journals in information systems as well as in widely regarded premier journals of other business and related disciplines. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in information systems, computer science, or related disciplines from a nationally accredited university or international equivalent. Ideal candidates will possess strong theory development skills and be able to apply cutting-edge methodologies. Ideal candidates will also have complementary skills to current faculty so as to contribute to the research environment, enhance the quality of the Ph.D. program, and add to the teaching capabilities that include executive graduate programs (e.g., specialized masters programs).
