The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Section of Dermatology at Cornell University invites applicants to apply for a Postdoctoral Associate (Dermatology Fellowship) position. This position is designed to help veterinarians develop expertise in a specialty field, work closely with a mentor in the area of specialization to gain clinical and research experience, while also teaching veterinary students and residents.

Responsibilities for this position consist of specialty clinical service (40%), research (40%), and resident/veterinary student training (20%). Percentage appointment is negotiable and can be tailored to applicant’s preferences.

The Dermatology caseload at Cornell University includes more than 1100 annual cases. The caseload is comprised of small animal appointments seen in the clinic as well as numerous small, large, and exotic animal consults seen throughout the hospital. The applicant is also expected to attend didactic resident training rounds, journal clubs, and dermatohistopathology rounds.

This is a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.

Qualifications: The applicant must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited or equivalent institution. Successful completion of a rotating internship is preferred, but not required, before application. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this position.

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
