It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn. The Department of Statistics and Data Science at
Cornell University invites applications for a lecturer position. Information
about the department appears at http://stat.cornell.edu/ Teaching responsibilities, general duties include
holding office hours, developing syllabi, assignments, writing and grading
exams, supervising teaching assistants, and maintaining a course website. Other
duties may be assigned by the chair as necessary. This is a 100% lecturer
position. The teaching load expectation for the Lecturer is four course
equivalents per year. The Lecturer will most likely teach courses at the level
of STSCI 2100, 2110, 3110. Preference will be given to applicants with prior
experience of developing course materials (videos, quizzes etc.) suitable for
building active learning initiatives in virtual and in-person classrooms. The
ideal candidate will assist in the development of online introductory
statistics content. A PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, or related field
is required. Additional responsibilities may include coordinating
multi-section courses, supervising teaching assistants, serving on committees,
supporting growth in the department’s course offerings, and advising undergraduate
majors.
