Position Description
We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship with a one-year term, in the domains of scattering amplitudes and gravitational waves. The position will begin in October 2025. The fellowship will be funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant, ``Ampl2Einstein'' (ERC--2019--ADG--885414). The fellowship will be held at the Institut de Physique Theorique (IPhT) at Saclay in the Paris suburbs, and may include research visits to the partner institution, CERN, in Geneva. The IPhT is an institute within the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). The postdoctoral researcher will work primarily on the subject of theoretical predictions for gravitational waves using techniques from quantum scattering amplitudes. The fellowship salary will be according to the CEA's scale. Applicants must hold, or be pursuing, a doctoral degree in a relevant subfield of theoretical physics. For applicants currently pursuing doctoral studies, the commencement of the fellowship is contingent upon a successful defense of their PhD thesis by mid-September, 2025. In addition, applicants must be fluent (reading, writing, and speaking) in English. A short list of applicants will be selected based on their CVs, publications, research statements, and comments from referees. Applicants on the short list may be interviewed remotely to select the incoming fellow. Applications should include a CV, a list of publications, and a brief research statement. Applicants should arrange for submission of three letters of reference from established researchers familiar with their work. All materials should be uploaded electronically to Academic Jobs Online.
