The 4-H Program Leader (PL) guides CCE’s 4-H Youth Development Program, a flagship program of Cornell Human Ecology (CHE) and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University, and the national Cooperative Extension System. The PL position is a core leadership position in CCE requiring a high level of collaboration with the leadership in Cornell Human Ecology (CHE), and Extension Administration in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). In addition, the 4-H PL must engage effectively and proactively with the field-based Association structure of the CCE System.
With a commitment to evidence-based education and strong research program partnerships, the 4-H Program Leader provides guidance and vision for the 4-H program in New York State, in collaboration with local Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) 4-H staff, faculty researchers, and extension leaders in both colleges and the broader University. The Program Leader supervises and supports the NYS 4-H professionals within the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) in Human Ecology and oversees the effort to support the county based 4-H field staff who implement 4-H programming in the communities of New York state. In addition, the 4-H State Leaders is the primary point of connection with the 4-H program leadership at the National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and National 4-H Council.
