Design Climate Program Coordinator
Join the Design Climate team and help shape the future of clean
technology development at Duke University! Our goal is to make Design Climate the
top clean tech innovation program in the world. Our signature program is a
two-semester class sequence where student teams work
with industry experts to apply Design Thinking principles to develop triple
bottom line startups to address environmental sustainability challenges. We
want to continue building up our portfolio of Design Climate student startup
ideas and host complimentary events to inspire and connect the clean tech

Primary responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this role are to:
- Assist with curriculum development and course
management
o
Help make the Design Climate course
best-in-class! The Design Climate curriculum is constantly improving, and we’re
looking for people who are excited to incorporate best-in-class pedagogical
techniques
o
Develop and curate lecture material for
in-person and asynchronous lessons
o
Identify, coordinate, and arrange for guest
lecturers to share cutting-edge Design Thinking and climate-related innovative
approaches
o
Facilitate student projects work by identifying
and acquiring necessary resources
- Manage Design Climate project pipeline
o
Network with industry professionals and Duke faculty
to identify exciting clean tech needs, solutions, and project opportunities
o
Manage relationships and help build out stakeholder
network associated with each project
- Manage course assistants (teaching assistant,
program assistant, service learning assistant, etc)
- Market Design Climate to students and external
stakeholders
o
Mange Design Climate’s digital presence by updating
the website and social media accounts
o
Develop marketing and communication materials
for various channels (social media, newsletter, flyers, etc.)
o
Attend on-campus events to represent Design
Climate
o
Attend local events to integrate Design Climate
into the climate technology and entrepreneurship communities
- Plan and host events
o
Plan and execute small group events
o Plan and execute larger workshops/conferences
- Support Design Climate Executive Director
Key Expertise and Strengths
The ideal candidate will have the following key expertise
and strengths:
- Design thinking, human centered design, or
design background
- Marketing experience
- Event management experience
- Interest in experiential learning course/program
development
- Interest in sustainability and climate technology
- Interest in innovation and creating an
entrepreneurial ecosystem
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Great written communication and good eye for
marketing material creation
Desired Educational Preparation
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s
degree.
