The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) is seeking a full-time (40 hours per-week) board-certified/board-eligible child and adolescent psychiatrist to serve the Adolescent Continuing Care Unit (ACCU) at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) in Worcester, MA. WRCH is a Department of Mental Health (DMH) state-of-the-art hospital that cares for adults and adolescents and their families with severe mental health conditions. The ACCU is both part of WRCH and the statewide Department of Mental Health Child, Youth, and Families (CYF) Services. The selected candidate will be recommended for a UMass Chan faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor based on qualifications. 

The Attending Child and Adolescent psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adolescents admitted to the ACCU. This care includes: 

* treatment planning for adolescents with complex mental health conditions at risk of or demonstrating self-harm or harm to others; 

* individualized, strength-based, trauma-informed, and trauma-responsive psychiatric care; 

* care that supports recovery and collaborates with the youth and their legally authorized representative(s)/families, as well as appropriate collateral care team members, to ensure treatment is active and moves the youth toward the least restrictive environment as soon as possible; and, 

* psychiatry/psychopharmacology services that accord with current best practices for adolescents and are informed by evidence-based practices. 

As indicated, the attending child and adolescent psychiatrist also participates in forensic evaluations and testifies in court for youth admitted to the unit on forensic legal statuses (evaluation of competency, criminal responsibility, etc.). The ACCU is a family-friendly work environment, with no required nights or weekend calls. There are opportunities to join the on-call team for additional moonlighting with competitive reimbursement.
