Position Description

Mobile Forensic Psychologist

The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Law and Psychiatry program seeks to fill an .50 FTE Faculty position in the on its Mobile Forensic Evaluation Service. The Service provides forensic evaluations of competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility, civil commitment, and aid-in sentencing at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital and Tewksbury State Hospital. In addition, the Service provides violence risk assessment consultations to Department of Mental Health Facilities.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D./Psy.D., specialized training/experience in Forensic Psychology, have experience in risk assessment, and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Massachusetts. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate ability to contribute to the academic mission of UMass Chan Medical School, including within our Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program and/or Psychology Internship Program. The position is open to early career forensic psychologists and those with more experience. Depending on experience, there are opportunities for leadership positions within the program as well as in the associated Forensic Residency Program.

The selected candidate will be recommended for a UMass Chan faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor based on qualifications. The position offers competitive salaries, with an excellent benefit package, including additional faculty benefits.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the established Department of Mental Health minimum base salary for this position is $55,000 for .50 FTE (exclusive of benefits and retirement). At UMass Chan Medical School, final base salary offers are determined based on a combination of factors, including your skills, education, and relevant experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent compensation across our teams. Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the starting range to allow for future growth and development within the role.
