The Social Development and Policy Program at Habib University invites applications for open rank faculty positions in Development Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, Anthropology, Sociology and Urban Studies. Candidates are expected to be sufficiently familiar with interdisciplinary approaches to social problems and should be ready to use such approaches in their instruction and research activities. While the program is flexible in terms of specific areas of research specialization, the program is particularly interested in candidates who have conducted critical interdisciplinary research in various complex problems in emerging economies like lack of education, economic and health security. The ability to teach quantitative research methods would be a definite plus. In addition to being committed scholar mentors in a student-centered undergraduate liberal arts university, successful candidates will be expected to actively participate in strengthening the Social Development and Policy program. Once on board, faculty should also anticipate supporting the Habib Liberal Core. Depending on the credentials, candidates will be considered at Assistant Professor or Associate Professor ranks as appropriate.

Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January 1st.

Qualifications: For Assistant and Associate Professor positions, candidates must have completed or must be in the final stages of a doctoral degree in the relevant field from a leading global institution recognized for its strength in this field. Ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching and scholarly skills, will be able to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues, will enjoy influencing the intellectual growth of their students, will be effective in institutional service, will be passionate about undergraduate research and is excited to work with colleagues across disciplines. Experience of studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses, active engagement in institutional service, professional activities, student mentorship, curriculum planning and review. For Assistant and Associate Professors the annual teaching load is 5 three- or four-credit courses.

Habib University is Pakistan's first and only exclusively undergraduate-focused liberal arts University that leverages the American style of undergraduate education and has developed a distinctive world-class liberal arts curriculum that is contextually relevant and grounded to our South Asian context and heritage.
