The successful applicant will join the AstroML group of Prof. Roberto Trotta, whose research interests include (but are not limited to) development of machine learning methods and Bayesian analysis algorithms, and their application to a variety of datasets from cosmology, astronomy and astrophysics; interpretable machine learning, inference with Bayesian graph networks, variational inference and simulation-based inference and uncertainty quantification in machine learning. The position has a generous computing, research and travel allowance, no teaching duties and an expected starting date of January 2022 (negotiable). 

We are looking for qualified candidates from a broad variety of backgrounds, including cosmology, theoretical or astroparticle physics, statistics and computer science, with existing expertise in data analysis of cosmological, astrophysical or astronomical data sets; experience in developing and applying machine learning techniques, advanced Bayesian methods and deep learning to cosmological or astrophysical datasets, or to data in other fields.
