Director of Therapeutic Services, Adolescent Continuing Care Units at the Worcester Recovery Center
and Hospital (WRCH)
The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMCMS) seeks an experienced licensed clinical Child
and Adolescent Psychologist to serve as the Adolescent Continuing Care Units (ACCUs) at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) Director of Therapeutic Services. This is a full-time faculty clinical position.
The Director of Therapeutic Services for the ACCUs is responsible for providing clinical care, leadership, and supervision to clinicians (clinical directors, unit social workers, psychologists, care partner, and rehabilitation services) at DMH’s only behavioral health/mental health continuing care inpatient service for youth in the Commonwealth. The Director of Therapeutic Services oversees the full range of psychotherapeutic intervention for the ACCUs therapeutic programming which are designed to serve adolescents and their families whose clinical condition requires inpatient level of psychiatric intervention, medical/medication evaluation and monitoring, and active continuing care treatment. The Director of Therapeutic Services will oversee all facets of clinical programming and will ensure ongoing excellence in therapeutic and trauma informed/trauma-responsive care.
As a clinical leader serving on behalf of the state’s mental health authority, we are looking for a Child and Adolescent Psychologist who is familiar with state agencies, has expertise in adolescent residential and inpatient settings, and is skilled in clinical collaboration and teaching. A UMMS academic faculty appointment will be based on prior experience. There are opportunities for research, including protected time depending on experience and goals.
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D./Psy.D., and specialized training/experience in Child and
Adolescent Psychology. Experience in risk assessment is required. Preferred qualifications include
training and experience in evidence-based psychotherapy models for trauma, dialectical behavioral
therapy (DBT), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), and/or evidence-based psychosocial treatment for
eating disorders. Facility in teaching professionals, lay public, consumers, as well as trainees such as psychology and social work interns is desirable.
