Position Description: |
As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all
Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or
WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine and booster or have
obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious
exemption, regardless of their role and work location.
New hires are required to provide documentation showing full
vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or
Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before
their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or
information is not received by their start date, the first day of work
will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of
employment may be withdrawn.

The Department of History is searching for an assistant or early associate professor of public history and/or public memory, with a focus on the Global South, Europe, indigenous communities, and/or transnational/transregional history, to complement current research and teaching in the department’s Public History Initiative (http://phi.history.cornell.edu). We seek a scholar with a PhD in History or a related field who is also grounded in theoretical and methodological approaches in public history and memory studies, including, but not limited to commemorative practices, historic preservation, studies of the built environment, heritage studies, oral history, archival studies, material culture studies, and digital history, with potential research interests including but not limited to migration, race and ethnicity, indigeneity, and decolonization. This position will be part of the Provost’s new CIVIC initiative in “Humanities, Art, & Public Life,” encouraging collaborations across the university. Potential partners include the Einaudi Center for International Studies, the Migrations Global Grand Challenge, Africana Studies, the American Indian and Indigenous Studies Program, Communication, Human Centered Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, and Near Eastern Studies.
