Theoretical Particle Physics
FSU – Postdoc positions
Fields of Interest: hep-ph; hep-th
Deadline: 2022/12/05
Region: USA
Job description:
The theoretical high energy physics group at the Florida State University invites applications for two postdoctoral positions in theoretical particle physics, one in the field of scattering amplitudes and precision calculations for collider physics and the other in the field of physics beyond the standard model (BSM). The opportunity for teaching experience may be available and will be considered if needed. The positions will start in Fall 2023 and will be for 2+1 years, contingent upon funding. Appointments at earlier starting dates can be considered.
Our theory group is comprised of four faculty members, Fernando Febres Cordero, Takemichi Okui, Laura Reina, and Kohsaku Tobioka, postdocs and graduate students. Research interest is very broad, including for example precision collider phenomenology, effective field theories, scattering amplitudes in gauge theories and gravity, flavor physics, and multiple subjects on physics beyond the standard model.
One position will focus on modern techniques for the computation of multi-loop scattering amplitudes for applications in collider phenomenology and in the description of compact binary systems, while the other on physics beyond the Standard Model especially (but not limited to) collider phenomenology, astroparticle physics, cosmology, and also high-intensity experiments. The applicants will be encouraged to collaborate with local PhD students and postdocs as well as to take advantage of the ample expertise in theoretical and experimental particle physics in the Physics Department.
Please apply through this portal (
https://academicjobsonline.org). The application should include a CV, a research statement, and a list of publications. The applicant should also arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be submitted through the same portal. Priority will be given to applications received by December 5, 2022, when the process of reviewing applications will start. Submissions will be considered until the positions are filled.
