The Quark Matter Research Center(QMRC)at the Institute of Modern Physics(IMP) invites applications for several postdoctoral positions in theoretical nuclear physics to begin in fall 2023 (dates are flexible).

The successful candidate(s) will work independently and collaboratively with Dr. Liuming Liu (https://inspirehep.net/authors/1259106), Dr. Peng Sun (https://inspirehep.net/authors/1659207) and Dr. Yi Yin (https://inspirehep.net/authors/1121758) on QCD related research, including quantum and thermodynamic properties of QCD matter in extreme conditions and hadron structure from lattice and perturbative QCD. Particularly, we anticipate to have at least one postdoc position for Lattice QCD (on hadron spectrum and structure). For this position, those who have a lattice QCD background and those who have not yet, but are willing to work on lattice QCD are especially encouraged to apply.

The appointment is initially for two years. The expected applicants should have Ph.D degree, within the past five years, in theoretical particle physics and/or nuclear physics. Applicants will be required to submit a CV, list of publications, statement of research interests, and three letters of reference to AJO (https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/23971). Review of the application will start on Jan. 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

IMP is the largest nuclear physics research institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In 2022, the new campus starts operation in Huizhou (Guangdong) where the lattice group will be located. To support the computationally demanding research, especially Lattice QCD, IMP and South China Normal University co-founded the Southern Nuclear Science Computing Center. The current computing power is ~2Petaflops and will be upgraded to ~5Petaflops in the near future. IMP also initiated the proposal of the Electron-Ion Collider in China (EicC), which will be complementary to EIC in US in the exploration of nucleon structure.
