The Department of Anthropology at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position in Biological Anthropology, commencing August 1, 2023, with the possibility of extension for up to 3 years. The position is funded through a grant from the Human Networks and Data Science Program of the National Science Foundation to study social relationships and intergroup cooperation in Ethiopia. The Postdoctoral Associate will work closely with Professor Luke Glowacki and Dr. Zachary Garfield as a member of the Human Systems and Behavior Lab. We are committed to postdoctoral mentoring and development. The appointment will involve spending approximately half the time carrying out and supervising data collection in rural communities in the South Omo Valley of Ethiopia and residency in Boston during the remaining time. Applicants should be comfortable working independently in rural field conditions. Experience with R, multivariate statistics, social network analysis, and previous field experience are beneficial. The position includes moving expenses, and support for conference travel.  A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as anthropology, biology, or other related field at the time of appointment is required.
