The Modeling Environmental Risks and Decisions Group (MERDG) at Duke University, led by Dr. Mark Borsuk, is looking for a part-time Research Scientist with a substantial background in statistical analyses of environmental data.

Job Description:

The Research Scientist will be involved in stochastic simulations of environmental systems with a focus on land use / land cover with potential additional projects related to geoengineering and water resources. Familiarity with Bayesian methods, geospatial machine learning, and/or environmental statistics would be highly useful in this position. This position is part-time with an expectation of between 10-15 hours a week and is not fixed-term.

Requirements:

A PhD in a scientific or engineering discipline with substantial experience or research activity in statistical data analysis and simulation. Applicants should have a strong interest in the study of risk and/or resilience from an engineering perspective.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest and CV, including the names and email addresses of at least three references to Mark Borsuk (mark.borsuk@duke.edu).
