The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies Program at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in LGBTQ Studies beginning fall semester 2023. Our program seeks a teacher-scholar whose expertise and experience are in one or more of the following subfields: intersections of gender and sexuality with science and technology studies; queer medical humanities; issues of LGBTQ health and wellness; and trans* studies. The successful candidate will teach introductory-level gender and sexuality studies courses as well as upper-division-level electives in their area of specialization.

Completion of Ph.D. is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. A degree or certificate in Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, or Queer Studies is preferred. Prior teaching experience required, whether as a teaching assistant or instructor of record. The successful candidate may be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. LGBTQ Studies faculty also collaborate regularly with our colleagues in Women’s Studies and LGBTQ+ Initiatives.
