The Philosophy Department at Colgate University invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant
professor positions, both beginning fall semester 2023. Position #1: AOS: Open. AOC: Environmental
Ethics. Position #2: AOS: Open. AOC: Open, but the department has teaching needs in philosophy of
race, non-Western philosophy, and Kant and 19th Century Philosophy. All applications received will be
considered for both positions. Teaching load for each position is five courses per year. Completion of the
Ph.D. in philosophy is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, three letters of recommendation, evidence of teaching
effectiveness (which may include a teaching statement, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations if
