The Center for Virtual Imaging Trials (CVIT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. The broad objective of the Center for Virtual Imaging Trials is to develop and provide a comprehensive virtual platform to assess the clinical performance of medical imaging technologies or applications from design to use. In its first phase, the Center focuses on Computed Tomography (CT). The Center will provide essential resources to optimize the design and use of CT technologies for improved human health.

The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for a full time academic or research career. Duties include utilizing a variety of techniques including computational models of human anatomy, algorithms that model imaging devices, and image reconstruction and analysis. The initial appointment will be for one year with opportunities for extension based upon funding.

Work Performed (i.e. Duties): • Develop and disseminate integrated software tools for image analysis • Develop statistical models to develop diagnostic criteria and validation of algorithms for analysis of medical data • Maintenance of a laboratory notebook and/or other comparable records of research activity • Preparation of manuscripts • Open and timely discussion with the mentor regarding all facets of the Postdoctoral Appointee's research activities. • Prompt disclosure to the mentor regarding the possession and desire to distribute materials, reagents, software, copyrightable and potentially patentable discoveries derived from the Postdoctoral Appointee's research. • Collegial conduct towards members of the research group and others • Compliance with all applicable University and departmental policies and procedures. • Other related duties

This appointment is not part of a clinical research training program, unless research training under the supervision of a senior mentor is a primary purpose of the appointment.

Qualifications:

Education: • PhD in biomedical engineering, medical imaging, physics or a related field or equivalent doctorate (e.g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) • Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency. • If a postdoctoral fellow has completed all of the requirements for a degree, but the degree has not been formally conferred; the candidate may present evidence of completion of the degree requirements, together with a statement documenting the date on which the degree is to be conferred.

Experience: • Current or prior experience in virtual imaging trials through medical imaging simulation techniques highly preferred. Such techniques include computational models of human anatomy, algorithms that model imaging devices, and image reconstruction and analysis.
