The high energy astrophysics group at Hiroshima University invites applicants for a postdoc position in high energy astrophysics. The successful candidate will join the high energy astrophysics group at Hiroshima University. The group has active members of international research collaborations such as CTA, MAGIC, Fermi-LAT, IXPE, XRISM, XL-Calibur, CAMELOT and AMEGO-X (from X-ray to TeV gamma-ray telescopes). The group works closely with Hiroshima Astrophysical Science Center that has a 1.5 m diameter optical/near-infrared Kanata telescope, which has led to many scientific achievements and played an important role in determining the electromagnetic counterpart of IceCube 170922A.

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Yusuke Suda and pursue research in high energy transient phenomena. He/She is expected to join the CTA LST project and to lead LST data analysis. Development of a new silicon pixel detector for future MeV gamma-ray astronomy will be the other main task. He/She will have the opportunity to join international research collaborations such as MAGIC, Fermi-LAT, CAMELOT and AMEGO-X.

Ideal applicants have a PhD in astrophysics or high-energy physics and a strong interest in data analysis and detector development. The basic salary is 333,000 yen/month (minimum) and may increase based on his/her experiences. Japanese language skills are not required if he/she can communicate in English.
