Postdoctoral and Staff Scientist positions in Biochemistry and Structural Biology of DNA Repair

An NIH funded laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is searching for enthusiastic, talented, and team-oriented individuals for open Postdoctoral and Assistant/Associate Staff Scientist positions. The laboratory investigates the structural biology and biochemistry of DNA double strand break repair.

The candidate will be responsible for mechanistic characterization of DNA repair using structural biology, biochemical and/or biophysical approaches. The candidate will take advantage of cutting-edge capabilities in the laboratory and at UAMS, including time-resolved x-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM, rapid kinetics instrumentation, a state-of-the-art structural biology resource with extensive biophysical capabilities (e.g. SEC-MALS, ITC, CD, mass photometer, MST, fluorescence, IR) and 19 world class core facilities. The laboratory has access to EPR, XAS, NMR and regular beamtime at national synchrotron facilities.

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to collaborate with others

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with protein expression (esp. insect/mammalian) and purification
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM
  • Experience with quantitative biophysical assays, enzyme kinetics (incl. transient kinetics), kinetic assay development
  • Experience with high-throughput assays, quantitative ligand binding assays and/or small molecule assays
