Brandeis University seeks a Director to lead and develop its well-endowed Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program. The Hornstein Program, a unit of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, is a professional master's program combining intensive academics, professional fieldwork, and international study seminars to prepare leaders for the 21st-century Jewish community. The Hornstein program has been a unique and preeminent leadership program over the past two generations, graduating over 700 students who have gone on to serve Jewish communities in the United States and around the World. The new Director will have the opportunity to develop the best Jewish Leadership Program building on the 58-year-old program’s reputation and legacy to prepare professionals for the new and distinctive challenges facing the Jewish community and its leadership in the coming decades. The Director will lead strategy and operations for the program including all curricula, student recruiting, developing new online and low residence modalities, fundraising, staff support, and the program budget. The Director will collaborate with university, community, and funding partners. The Director who will occupy the Leon A. Jick chair and hold a tenured or non-tenured faculty appointment, with rank open depending upon qualifications. The faculty appointment will be to a department appropriate to the candidate’s discipline and area of research.

We seek a visionary leader with the ability to administer a complex professional program and adapt it in the current education context. The ideal candidate will possess educational vision and administrative expertise, as well as deep knowledge of Jewish communities and organizations around the world and experience in a range of teaching modalities. The candidate must be able to work with diverse groups, manage intra-university relationships, and bridge the cultures of academic and of professional practice. Experience with academically rigorous, high-touch, low residency professional programs is preferred, as is a record of scholarship and/or thought leadership.
