Position Description

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry, broadly defined. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field by the date of hire; A minimum of one year post-doctoral experience is required. The start date for the position is August 15, 2024.

Members of the Department are expected to demonstrate excellence in both teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to work effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines. A strong commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels is a requirement. Successful candidates are also expected to develop and sustain a vibrant research program and assist in the administrative and governance functions of the department, the university, and the profession via service on committees as appropriate. There are opportunities to develop collaborations within the department and across the university in the fields of organometallic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, photochemistry, and the materials and engineering subdisciplines.
