The Department of Computer Science at Boston College invites applications for a postdoctoral position, under the supervision of Prof. José Bento, in the following areas:

* signal processing and control theory

* machine learning, statistics, graphical models, information theory

* parallel and distributed algorithms/optimization, proximal algorithms, convex and non-convex optimization

* network theory and graph matching

* deep learning, robustness in machine learning

- Funding available up to 3 years. - Start and end dates flexible. - Compensation includes a competitive salary and a complete benefits plan.

The candidate will have the freedom to shape his/her project. The candidate is expected to publish his/her work at top venues (see example venues below) and supervise subprojects led by both doctoral and undergraduate students. Teaching is not required, unless requested by the candidate. Required qualifications:

* Ph.D. degree

* Published research or advanced coursework in at least one of the following: mathematics, statistics, probability, optimization, machine learning, and signal processing

Highly recommended but not required:

* Previous publications in top conferences in ML, AI, optimization, statistics, information theory, and related fields (https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_artificialintelligence) and/or in top bioinformatics and computational biology journals, and related fields (https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_bioinformatics)
