Position Description: |
We seek a highly motivated individual who will play a key role in inaugurating
the Character Forward Initiative. This initiative represents a collaboration
between the Pratt School of Engineering, the Kenan Institute for Ethics, and
the Duke Divinity School, aimed at elevating discussions about character in
relation to the responsibilities of engineers in tackling pressing societal
issues. The position is joint between the Pratt School of Engineering and the Kenan Institute for Ethics. A successful
candidate is expected to collaborate with engineering faculty to address
character in their courses in a variety of ways, as well as develop a workshop
for engineering faculty that addresses faculty innovation in character through
courses and experiential activities. A successful candidate needs to be able to
work across disciplines of ethics, philosophy, and engineering. Candidates
should have a PhD in philosophy, theology, engineering education, or related
area, or an advanced degree with significant relevant experience integrating
ethics and character development into courses. Having technical knowledge or
experience working with STEM faculty would be a strong asset. Interested
