Position Description
Position Highlights: The University of Arizona (UA) Physics Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in experimental particle physics starting Fall 2024. The research focus of the existing group of four faculty and one research professor is the ATLAS experiment. The group is pursuing a variety of beyond-the-Standard Model searches and interpretations in LHC Run 3 as well as holding several responsibilities for HL-LHC detector upgrades. The group invites applications from members of all experimental particle physics collaborations, and from those in related fields including Instrumentation, Quantum Information, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. The search will be a broad one. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a proven track record in innovative research in experimental particle physics. In addition to establishing a leading research program, the successful candidate will also be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service in the Physics Department, as well as to take proactive steps to improve diversity in our department and in the field of experimental particle physics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Physics or related field, and postdoctoral experience in experimental particle physics (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
Record of leadership in the field, teaching experience, a demonstrated record of innovation in physics analysis, experience in developing instrumentation and/or the associated software/ firmware.
