Position Description
The research associate will design, execute, and interpret all experiments related to the project under general supervision from the laboratory PI (Lazzaro), at times in collaboration with other members of the research group. The research associate will take the lead on writing scientific manuscripts arising from their work, in collaboration with the PI and other lab group members as appropriate. In addition, the research associate may contribute to the writing of grants. The research associate is expected to remain current in their reading of the relevant scientific literature and to work with collaborating scientists outside the group when necessary or appropriate. Opportunity exists for presentation of results at national and international research conferences.
The research associate, like other members of the research group, will have limited responsibility for a defined set of tasks that ensure smooth operation of the research group. This may include ordering supplies, routine maintenance of facilities or equipment, general cleaning, and organization of the research space, and/or arrangement of safe disposal of waste and hazardous materials. Potential exists for supervision of undergraduate students or graduate rotation students.
Other responsibilities may occasionally and transiently arise, and the research associate is expected to be responsive to the needs of the research group and the PI.
