Position Description:

*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***
The Theory Center at Jefferson Lab (JLab) invite applications for two theory postdoctoral fellow positions to be available in the fall of 2024. These positions are normally for two years, but outstanding performance in research may allow an extension to a third year.

The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to conduct first class research in theoretical hadronic and nuclear physics, and preferably in one of the following research areas most relevant to JLab’s science program,
  1.  Studies of strong coupling QCD on the lattice computing the spectrum, decays, transition form factors and multidimensional structure of hadrons;
  2. Applications of effective field theories to nuclear and hadronic properties;
  3. Calculations of nuclear properties and their electroweak interactions;
  4. Applications of scattering theory methods to the phenomenology of multi-hadron final states relevant for the spectroscopy program at JLab 12 GeV and worldwide;
  5. Applications of QCD factorization to observables sensitive to single and multiple dimensional hadron structures and their extraction from experimental data and first-principals lattice computation using QCD global analyses;
  6. Extensions of all such studies for a future Electron-Ion Collider; and
  7. Machine learning / A.I. and quantum computing for nuclear physics.
The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to disseminate the research results through articles published in refereed publications, presented at conferences, workshops and seminars, and through submission of proceedings. More information about JLab and its Theory Center can be found at https://www.jlab.org/. Applicants must upload (1) a cover letter, (2) CV, (3) three letters of recommendations, (4) a statement of research interests, and (5) a publication list through the Academic Jobs Online post at this AcademicJobOnline (https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/26258). The applicant must also apply to Jefferson Lab's online application tracking system at https://www.jlab.org/job-openings (Job #13269). The deadline for applications is November 15th, 2023
