Duke University Divinity School seeks to make a faculty appointment in American church history, effective July 1, 2024. Applications are sought from persons with expertise in the theological, ecclesial, exegetical, cultural, ritual/liturgical, and social developments in American Christianity. The candidate appointed to this position will be expected to teach the relevant introductory church history courses for the M.Div., M.T.S., M.A., and/or D.Min. programs. Additionally, the appointed candidate will be expected to teach advanced seminars in the candidate’s expertise for students in the Ph.D. and Th.D. programs.

The position is for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track. A scholarly doctorate (Ph.D. or Th.D.) and a master’s degree in a theological discipline, preferably the M.Div., are required. Women, ethnic minorities, and persons from Methodist/Wesleyan traditions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, two syllabi from relevant courses, a scholarly publication, and the names of three persons from whom reference letters may be obtained. Review of applications and nominations will begin December 1, 2023.
