The successful candidate will be expected to perform theoretical and/or numerical studies in one of following topics: (1) Exotic phases and phase transitions in tunable 2D systems, with application to Moire materials;
(2) Phases and properties of quantum magnets; search and probe of quantum spin liquids;
(3) Formal developments in non Fermi liquids or non-equilibrium systems, e.g. renormalization group, field theory formulation, hydrodynamics, etc.
Required Qualifications:
PhD degree in theoretical condensed matter physics with experience preferably in one or more of the following aspects:
* Emergent quantum phenomena in strongly correlated systems;
* Analytic or numerical methods of quantum many-body systems;
* Quantum field theory;
* Collaboration with experiment groups on frustrated magnetic systems, high Tc superconductors, AMO systems etc.
Salary:
Appointments will be made with a 2-year initial contract, renewable up to 3 years in total depending on mutual interests and performance. The initial salary is HK$30,000 per month subject to qualifications and experience. Opportunities to attend and speak at conferences and workshops 1-2 times per year will be provided with travel expenses covered. Highly qualified candidates will be recommended for “Postdoctoral Fellow” title at HKUST IAS. Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave, and contract-end gratuity will be provided where applicable.
