Position Description
The Department of Clinical
Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites
applications for a clinical track faculty position in the Section of Equine
Medicine and Critical Care. Candidates must be board certified in Large Animal
Internal Medicine. Board eligibility for Emergency and Critical Care College is
highly desirable. They must have a DVM or equivalent degree with a residency in
large animal medicine. Salary, rank and title will be commensurate with
academic credentials and experience. The Large Animal Medicine and Emergency
and Critical Care services support robust preclinical and clinical research
programs, provides services in a teaching and referral hospital for one half of
the position. The other half of the position adds to
the pig focused
research team. The ideal candidate will be able to handle, anesthetize,
and provide robust and complex post-operative care to mostly farm and research
purpose bred pigs as well as a variety of other large translational model
species (sheep, goats, and occasional horses). In addition to these
clinical duties, the candidate will independently manage data acquisition,
manuscript preparation and submission, as well as contribute meaningfully to
future project design and grant application.
The Hon lab
conducts a significant amount of its work after hours or on weekends, and it is
imperative that the candidate be flexible with an atypical work schedule -
including travel to conference and a variety of continuing education
opportunities on a project-to-project demand.
The
successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to the body of
knowledge that underpins the practice of veterinary medicine. Experience in
clinical research and/or preclinical research is desirable. Cornell fosters an

external funding for research. There are extensive opportunities for
collaborative research within the College and the University, including the
Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences and the Cornell Tech campuses
in New York City.
Apart
from teaching through clinical service, the new faculty member will participate
in the other teaching of the Section including lecture and laboratory-based
teaching of DVM students and will participate in the biannual OSCE exams. In
line with their areas of expertise, they will can also participate in
preclinical teaching in the veterinary curriculum; this might employ teaching
modalities such as case-based learning. Resident teaching is recognized as a
part of the college’s mission.

Pay
Range: $56,100 to $145,700
