This three-year fellowship aims to provide a woman or gender-diverse scientist with the continuity and momentum at a crucial, early stage in their journey towards becoming a leader in eye research.

The Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) is an independent Medical Research Institute dedicated to preventing vision loss and finding cures to restore sight. We are an international leader in vision research, ranking in the world’s top five for ophthalmology research. Our partnership with the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the University of Melbourne, forms one of the strongest global partnerships in eye health and research.
CERA has almost 200 staff and graduate students. About the Fellowship
Our Equity Fellowship for Excellence in Vision Research will provide a unique career development opportunity for a woman or gender-diverse scientist with high potential for future leadership in eye research.
The Fellowship is a key part of CERA’s Gender Action Plan and will be supported by funding from the CERA Foundation and other philanthropic sources. The three-year duration will provide the continuity and momentum needed to support the Fellow in their work to build competitiveness for external funding.

How to apply
Applications are welcome from discovery scientists and clinician-researchers with a minimum of 3 years’ post PhD experience and demonstrated recognition in their field of expertise.
