Position Description
Postdoctoral Researcher Mike Bergin’s Research Group Duke University, Civil and Environmental Engineering Using Low-Cost Outdoor/Indoor Air Quality and Health Sensor Data, and Satellite Imagery to Assess the Impact of Mitigation Strategies on Human Health Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with research teams both within the US and abroad on air quality sensor network calibration, surveillance, and interpretation as well as developing policy relevant mitigation strategies to improve human health. Efforts will also include using satellite imagery that will be integrated with ground-based measurements to develop highly resolved spatial maps of PM2.5 at the neighborhood level. Data will also be integrated with cohorts of individuals who will be using wearable health sensors to determine the influence of air quality on a variety of human health parameters. The position will involve data analyses, and the development and application of novel AI/Deep learning methods. Requirements: A PhD in computer science/engineering with proven expertise in applying AI/Deep learning methods to complex environmental and or/human health related problems. Extensive experience with large-scale data processing and/or computation modeling is necessary. Exceptional writing and organizational skills are essential, and a track record in peer-reviewed, first-authored publications must be demonstrated.
