Position Description

The Pratt School of Engineering is seeking exceptional scholars/engineers/teachers for an Assistant Research Faculty position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and specifically within the Duke Center for Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Infectious Disease (WaSH-AID). This highly collaborative, interdisciplinary Center has a mission of facilitating the development and sustainable deployment of novel technology-based solutions for critical health and environmental challenges. The candidate will contribute to the Center’s portfolio of need-driven technologies for water treatment and sanitation. Ideal candidates will have technical experience in areas of water/wastewater treatment/remediation, membrane filtration technologies, adsorption, materials development and characterization, and electrochemistry. Candidates should also have experience in technology development, pilot scale system design and testing, and IP generation. Exceptional candidates will have a track record of applying fundamental scientific principles to innovative technology development and the translation of science from the lab to the field.

Successful candidates will have an outstanding track record of both written and oral communication. Evidence of mentoring capabilities will also be evaluated. Successful candidates are expected to have an established research record and evidence of obtaining competitive external research funding from both industry and government sources.
