Position Description

Post-doctoral positions in the Centre for Geometry and Physics at Uppsala University, starting 2024/09/01, or later as agreed upon.

We are advertising three post-doctoral positions in mathematics and theoretical physics as part of the new Centre for Geometry and Physics at Uppsala University, sponsored by the Swedish Research Council as a Center for Excellence. The positions have a duration of two years, with a possible one year extension subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Applicants are expected to conduct research in mathematics and/or theoretical physics. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not restricted to: algebraic geometry, Gromov-Witten invariants, wall-crossing, symplectic and contact topology, knot theory, supersymmetry, gauge/gravity duality, geometric methods for quantum field theories, generalized and categorical symmetries, integrability, conformal bootstrap methods, and resurgence in quantum fields theories.

Prerequisites: a PhD degree in mathematics, theoretical physics or foreign equivalent is required by the starting date of the position. Those who have obtained a PhD degree within three years of the application deadline will be given priority, with exceptions for special circumstances such as parental leave. Applicants are required to also submit an application to Uppsala University by following this link: https://www.math.uu.se/the-department/vacant-positions/?positionId=677879 Letters of recommendation should only be sent to AcademicJobsOnline.

The application should contain a cover letter mentioning the applicant’s research area, a CV, a brief research statement of no more than 3 pages (longer statements will not be considered), and a publication list.
