The Randles Lab has an opening for an Associate in Research for our computational modeling lab. We seek a highly motivated individual to pursue software engineering work in a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The HARVEY project is using large-scale supercomputers and cloud computing to enable personalized blood flow simulation. The Randles Lab is a part of the Aurora Early Science Program and has a large DOE INCITE proposal providing time on some of the biggest supercomputers in the world. This position is for an NIH-sponsored research project.


The successful applicant will become an expert in our parallel hemodynamics pipeline for biophysical simulations. They will develop new modeling methods and new models and apply them to study vascular disease.


The applicant will gain exposure to other projects in the lab, spanning machine learning, wearables, and physics-based models.

·                      Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics

·                      Be a proficient programmer, including in Python and C++, with good coding habits

·                      Have research experience

·                      Have excellent informal and formal written and oral communication skills

·                      Be capable of balancing independent research progress with collaboration and teamwork, as appropriate

·                      Bring curiosity, enthusiasm, and initiative!
