Position Description

Duke University is seeking a qualified Instructor in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. Qualifications requested for candidates: MA or PhD in American Sign Language, Deaf Studies, Second Language Acquisition and pedagogy, with training in ASL or fields related to Deaf Studies. This is a part-time position (1 course per semester) with competitive salary. The appointment begins in Fall 2024. We seek candidates with a demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum design, a proven ability to work effectively and independently, and a strong interest in working with undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Fluency in ASL and English is required. Please submit a CV, cover letter, names of 3 recommenders, and sample syllabi or materials from courses taught.
