Micius Postdoc Fellowship for Quantum Theory

University of Science and Technology of China

We are pleased to announce the Micius (Mozi) Fellowship, a theory postdoctoral position for quantum theory at University of Science and Technology of China. Named after the ancient Chinese philosopher Mozi, the mission of the Micius followship is to identify, recruit and nurture the most talented and promising early-career physicists in the field of quantum science theory. This may include but is not limited to quantum condensed matter physics, quantum information, quantum simulations, and quantum computing. The fellowship program aims to select up to five candidates annually.

Applications are welcome from candidates worldwide. The candidate should have a strong background in quantum optics, quantum many-body physics, quantum field theories, AMO physics, quantum information or quantum computing. The position commences in the fall of each academic year, with some flexibility.

The appointment is for three years, with a salary of ¥ 500,000 (RMB) per year, and can be renewed up to five years upon mutual agreement. A research fund of ¥ 60,000 is provided each year to cover job-related expenses.

Fellows will enjoy the freedom to pursue independent research or collaborate with our center’s permanent local members and distinguished regular visiting scientists, which include Youjin Deng, Xiaopeng Li, W. Vincent Liu, and Peter Zoller. Fellows are expected to work mainly in Shanghai, and have ample opportunities to engage in cutting-edge quantum experiments at the USTC Shanghai Institute for Advanced Studies. Additional information about our research is available at Questions can be sent to Alice Zhang (Email: ).

The application should contain a curriculum vitae, a publication list, a statement of research interests (no more than four pages excluding references) and three reference letters sent via AcademicJobsOnline. Review of the applications will begin on June 1, 2024. Application is open all year round. For the current round of application, and offers will be made by August 1, 2024.
